You might as well try to reason with a turnip. Most Buddhists in the west (at least those who identify as "Zen") not only cannot cope with the via negativa to realize what is by rejecting what is not, they deny what is (the cycle of birth and death) because they will not look deeply into the fact that nothing springs up without prior causes and conditions, in other words karma. Zen is a radical sect of Buddhism, not a repackaging of nihilism or self-help psychology you can squeeze in between yoga classes and a trip to the farmers market.
