you are lost until you experience it. saying what it is in words or voice is still mysterious and unknown to one who has not yet experienced IT is - true mind, buddha mind, enlightenment of yourself. There are no shortcuts no OTHER way to know, to understand, or for you to be un-lost, and found.

"If science is the pursuit of accurate knowledge of reality then science is Buddhism Buddhism is science." Robert Thurman

Keen_eddie:

It's not hard to say what Zen is, I say it in many ways all the time. It's about seeing our true nature, or the same seeing pure Mind. This mind is clear as empty space, however, in its present all-too-human form it is stirred-up and maculate. As long as we try to grasp it through our stirred-up thoughts we strike out. Pure Mind then becomes conditioned mind — our monkey mind.

I've been following your blog for a couple of years now, and have read several books you've mentioned here, but I still find myself lost.

You talk a lot about what Zen and Buddhism isn't but can you definitively say what it is? Maybe point a novice like me in the right direction? Or by asking am I missing the point?
