My master told me;

If you think yourself as a man of the world you belong to the world and everything that comes with it, be it good or evil.

One who is of Mind Only, however, belongs to absolute reality of Mind Only and what comes with it; the imageless buddhadharma he identifies with at all times as Nirvana.

Ch'an master Te-shan likened kensho to the dropping away of lacquer from the bottom of the bucket. I thought this metaphor from an advanced zen scholar, who never the less perceived his ignorance and became awakened only when asked by an unschooled tea cake merchant what mind would accept the cake, was an appropriate commentary to add to this excellent post.
