I'm now catching up with your posts, Mr Zennist! I've been busy. Yes, practicing awareness would be something a serious student of Zen should do--so I guess I am less than serious. Somehow my teacher thinks that raking leaves, driving without the radio and cleaning the house should be attended to 100%. I'm not there yet. The thing about us Americans is with a dvr and mp3 player or ipod we can entertain ourselves virtually 24 hours a day. So, the transitory nature of mundane pleasures continuously eludes us. The temptation is too great to resist...It's like saying "I will eat no meat" or "I will make my own clothing" when meat is there in the shrink wrap and clothing is cheap... Alas and alack.
