I agree that Buddhist meditation is all about introspection, although I am a bit distanced to the term psycho-analysis and the Freudian psychology, or should I say theology, that usually is associated with it.

I am still at the very beginning of my practice, but i wonder why the jhanas are rarely mentioned in modern Buddhism. As far as I understand it, the analytical part of meditation is merely the means to the synthesis, the jhanas, or the absorptions, which are the ends being our inward door of liberation.
